THE CAVE OF DE MAN


The icehouse in a corner of the domain ‘De Blauwe Torre’ was converted into a cave and is now called ‘De Mans Rotse’. The De Mans Rotse is still a place of pilgrimage.

THE CHURCH OF SAINT MAURITIUS


The church is dedicated to Saint-Maurice and his companions, the Theban Legion. The construction of the tower began shortly after 1200. The actual neo-Gothic church dates from 1896-1897 and was designed by the architect J. Carette. The old portal of the tower has been protected since 1939. You will find some paintings in the church dating from the 18th century.

CASTLE 'DE BLAUWE TORRE'


This castle, which is covered with blue slates, dates back from the 16th century. It had a main building and a poultry yard. The castle was bought by the Fathers of Lavigerie or White Fathers in 1936. The icehouse in a corner of the domain ‘De Blauwe Torre’ was converted into a cave and is now called ‘De Mans Rotse’. THE CITY HALL OF VARSENARE


The village hall of Varsenare is in fact the presbytery which was renovated around the year 2000. The outer wall was given its own accent due to the restoration.

THE 'HOF VAN PROVEN'


There are a lot of historical farms throughout the village territory. We mention only the most important and still existing ones. This is were the lords of Varsenare used to live. It used to be the castle of Proven. It had a main building and a poultry yard. In the 17th century the castle made room for a walled farmhouse. Others: farmhouses Scotelaere, Ter Leye, Ter Love, Rietschilde, Kaproenken with horse mill and Ter Hauwe.
